Blog 3: Hayao Miyazaki

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to talk about an artist that inspires me.

It was hard for me to choose an artist because there are so many that inspire me and lately, many are from social media. So I had to think a little bit about which artist I was going to choose and I decided for Hayao Miyazaki.

Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese illustrator, animator, director, screenwriter and film producer. His career began in the 1970's as the director of a television series called "Conan: The Boy from the Future". His first film was "The Castle of Cagliostro" in 1979, but with his second film "Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind" (1984) is when he began to deal with his main themes, such as the care of the environment, fantastic adventures and strong female main characters. In 1985 he created Studio Ghibli together with Isao Takahata.

When I was a child, my mom used to show me Hayao Miyazaki's movies, so there is a great nostalgic charge for me to watch his movies or listen to the music of them. My favorite movies are Nausicaa, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away and The Walking Castle... jajaa there are a lot of them, but they are really beautiful.

I am very inspired by the theme of his art, I appreciate that he is one of the few who puts women protagonists and for such a long time, in addition to his concern for the environment. Another thing that inspires me is how sensitive and emotional his films are, they are really wonderful, and I would love to be able to move people with my art, as he does.

That's all for today <3

I hope you have a great week and hopefully you have some time to watch some of his movies!
